The ‘Woods Effect’……..
So that every golfer has an opportunity to compete for prizes and no one player has the chance to dominate
our ongoing leagues or any series of events, I am introducing the ‘Woods Effect’ rule…………….
The Rule:
Any player winning a league prize or a series prize (a prize of significant value, contested over multiple
rounds), any player winning such a prize is unable to win successive prizes. The player is not excluded
from participating, nor is the player exempt from winning competition prizes, merely unable to win any
of the main prizes in the subsequent League or Series.
Note: 'Subsequent event'……. This is the next event the player participates in, not necessarily the next event
held by the society. The next event the player participates in, this is when the ‘Woods Effect’ comes into play.
The ‘Bandido rule’…..
Everyone is welcome to join GOLF the COSTA and everyone is expected to register with a fair and honest
handicap. To prevent exposure to Bandidos, I hereby introduce the ‘Bandido rule’.
The Rule:
In any GOLF the COSTA event, first-timers (members who have never played in a GOLF the COSTA
event) are excluded from winning 1st prize.
Additional cut
Players placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an ongoing league or any series of events, will be cut as per the
following.
1st - cut 1.5
2nd - cut 1
3rd - cut 0.5
No cut will be incurred if the players final position did not receive a prize (if for example we are
playing for set of clubs and there are no prizes for 2nd & 3rd, in this case the overall winner is the only
person subject to this ruling)
The following system is in place since Feb 2008.
Amended 24th June 2008
